Nassau BOCES offers classes for adults

Do you need a high school equivalency diploma or would you like to improve your English language skills? Nassau BOCES Adult Learning Center (ALC) can help. Registration all the ALC fall program begins on August 19 (actual dates, times and locations are listed below).

Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL) and High School Equivalency (HSE) classes will run from September 2015 through January 2016. Programs at St. Bernard’s School in Levittown include two hours of computer-assisted learning and/or training each week in a fully equipped computer lab.

Students must be at least 21 years of age without a high school diploma earned in the U.S. and its territories. There is a nonrefundable registration fee, ranging from $55 to $80 (based on class meeting times per week, course and location) payable by money order only. This fee entitles registrants to take ALC classes through January 29, 2016. There are additional fees for textbooks.

Prospective students must register in person at one of the following locations, at the specified dates and times: 

J. W. Dodd Middle School 25 Pine Street, Freeport ABE/HSE and ESL - September 30 or October 1, 6:30 p.m.

Joseph M. Barry Career & Technical Education Center 1196 Prospect Avenue, Westbury ABE/HSE and ESL - August 19-20, 6:30 p.m.

St. Bernard’s School 3100 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown ABE/HSE and ESL - August 26-27, 8:30 a.m.
